In case you've been under a rock or, dare I say it, inactive, the league spreadsheet, found at the top left on any board page under the "GOOGLE ROSTER SPREADSHEET" link (or, if that's too complicated, here: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsL1BFdCIzyydDRUeV94Q0VXVXRIU2NzblJyZWZoZEE&authkey=CLCwr4sN&authkey=CLCwr4sN#gid=44), requires your participation. To help facilitate the process and to make sure it remains organized, here are the following dos and don'ts, and things you need to be aware of:
Formatting/Organization:
Rosters/Salaries NECESSARY THINGS TO REMEMBER:
It really doesn't take long to put in your roster and salaries. Please take the time to do so as soon as possible.
Formatting/Organization:
- DO: Standard Normal, 9-point font. (DONT: Edit fonts or copy and paste from previous documents)
- DO: Center alignment in ALL fields. (DONT: right or left adjust)
- DO: Proper capitalization. (DONT: leave it all lower case)
- DO: Indicate team affiliation with players in parentheses (ex. Ryan Zimmerman (WSH)). (DONT: forget to include the teams!)
- DO: Include protection with "PROT". If a player is a minor leaguer, feel free to use "*" in the space next to their AAS to indicate so if you'd like. (DONT: forget to include it or indicate it any other way other than "PROT", important for consistency)
- DO: Insert money figures in millions (ex. 0.5 = $500,000) (DONT: insert dollar signs or commas!)
- DO: Include AAS figures of all minor leaguers, even on 10-man. Those within the 10-man aren't included against the cap in the spreadsheet!
- DO: Include releases in "R E L E A S E S" section, including specific names and amounts. Once a released player is signed, you may subtract the amount signed for in each year, from the amount owed in each year.
- DONT: under any circumstance, add any rows or columns! It will affect the formulas!
Rosters/Salaries NECESSARY THINGS TO REMEMBER:
- Minimum salary is "0.4". No exceptions. Any player that used to be less than that has had their salaries raised.
- The MINUTE a player has appeared in a major league game, his salary is at MINIMUM "0.48", unless specifically signed to a different figure through free agency.
- Salaries are now in thousands. If previously something like "$476,123" it is now rounded up to "$477,000", indicated as "0.477" in the spreadsheet.
- Check Cot's for latest salaries.
It really doesn't take long to put in your roster and salaries. Please take the time to do so as soon as possible.
