Don’t have the time to look through everything above, but per the prior Discord chat, I am pro expanding rosters by 5 spots with some sort of “swing”/option system for those 5 where they don’t count against the cap if you’re not “up” and haven’t had a qualifying season yet (or are in the midst of their first).

I would be against a straight-up expansion of the roster.
I would not necessarily be against adding an allowance for IL spots of some sort, with some pretty heavy restrictions. I have not thought the idea all the way through, but off the top of my head some restrictions might be:
1) You may not place a player on IL in order to add a minor leaguer or any player who is already on the IL (ie, add some guy who just had TJ surgery but may be back in the middle of next season)
2) If you place a player on IL, then you may ONLY sign an active MLB player and he may ONLY be signed to a 1-year contract
3) Placing a player on IL would allow (not sure if there might be any fancy loopholes owners could use for this) a trade to fill that now-open roster spot.
The main thing I am concerned about is that an expansion of the rosters will result in there no longer being any useful players to add in free agency. 5 extra roster spots x 30 teams = 150 players who will no longer be available in free agency. Even one extra roster spot will reduce the number of useful FAs by 30, which is a significant number.
Maybe the new guy is missing something here, but the 50-man roster limit forces some tough decisions that result in useful players becoming available throughout the season, which is a good thing.
