So, knowing I wasn't going to sleep soon because of the high of Nova winning the championship and knowing my morning class was cancelled, and thus, the earliest class I have tomorrow is acting at 1:30pm, I decided to marathon the podcast.
Great follow-up to the first one. I think my rankings based on Steamer line up almost perfectly (not sure about the NL East...) with Mike's predictions, including Pirates over the Cardinals.
And to clarify how I lost in the playoffs last year: I had a bye the first week and the Cubs had an UNBELIEVABLE week in the divisional round. Amazing hitting, and amazing pitching, and yet we tied. I think both of us were near a 2.00 era, .300 avg, .900 OPS, double-digit HRs, etc. But if I recall correctly, he had amassed so many steals that the tie-breaker was his.
And yet, had I not played Aaron Sanchez on the Sunday of the matchup in an ill-fated relief appearance where he completely imploded, walked several people and let in 5 earned runs, I would have taken the win. It was my first year in the playoffs though, and I'm hoping to follow in the Phillies footsteps. In 2007, they got to the playoffs for the first time since the 1990s, they lost in the first round to the Rockies. The next year, they won the World Series. As long as I don't end up like the Rockies circa now, I'll be happy. I certainly don't plan to sell off my entire farm system for pitchers who are already 33/34 (even if I still love Roy Halladay for the perfect game and the no-hitter in his first playoff performance)

That was awesome. Beats doing what I was supposed to be doing on a Tuesday morning.
Good god the NL is stacked. I like the Cubs this year but the Rockies are gonna be so tough to beat. And for a few years. I may just use 2017 as a major retooling year. We'll see.

You did beat me last year, in a game when both our teams were at our absolute bests. If there's one thing last year showed me, it's that it is anyone's game in the postseason.

That was a hell of series. I actually have a theory on how to perform well in H2H playoffs. So far 0 for 2 on getting to the World Series though.
