Mike, two things from someone who shares your name:
1. Please stop posting so much useful strategy on the boards.
and
2. As to closers losing their jobs due to injuries/ineffectiveness (Point 4) (Too many colons): I believe you'll find similar numbers of set up men having the same thing happen to them. Turns out relief pitching isn't healthy.

dude i gotta be honest, theres 30 teams in here, most have done this league for a few years and the rules are in place, you can rant all you want about the rules and miguel cabrera and choosing pitchers between 23-30, if you want you can even rant about your own personal issues for free. The reality is its not gonna change much, if you wanna know why there is a veto system, take a look at your team and its easy to see why. The ANGELS are worse then the astros, pirates, royals and any other perennially poor team, cause previous owners made bad trades that were let through because of the old addage"if two GMS agree and its not collusiion then we should allow it", then they quit and we replace them 5 times because each GM that takes over gives up because they have nothing of value and its pointless to run the team. My suggestion is you fix the angels and bring them to contention within the current rules and that will prove your fantasy knowledge more then being the next eric karabell. Miguel Cabrera is a great player man, we all know that, but i had to relieve cap and a 30/100 bat in willingham plus a two young players with bright futures on good teams(Lawrie and Minor) plus the 17 million in savings was a very good value deal for my situation. not that it matters i won the nl central twice in 2 years with astros so i dont need you telling me what to do anyway, but i do need you to stop talking about it and move on, fix the angels and prove to all of us that your the next big thing.
I'm pretty sure everyone here is aware of the high attrition rates on prospects. That's no mystery, there are also high rates of turnover in RP value from yr to yr....again no mystery. The difference here and I think Keith Law said it best-"prospects, especially in deep systems are currency". They have value, especially in a league like this. It's up to a gm to understand the value of that currency and at worst utilize if not maximize that value. Heredia has youth, success and projection on his side. He may very well never make it past AA, he may become a frontline starter. The commuter is not saying he goes straight up for a stud. But Below at this stage has an outside chance of getting a spot in the pen or in the back of the rotation. He doesn't have a high k rate, a high spot in the holds pecking order or a GB rate to suggest he'll be succesful this yr. Could he be a left handed Dillon Gee and get by on attacking the zone with guile...maybe but he could and should be had for less then Heredia given the industries optimism on Heredias future. Below may be valuable this yr, he could though be had for like a B- type of prospect with less projection then say Heredia. That's all, I think your strategy can certainly be a winning one but it needs to be used by you utilizing the value of your players to put that strategy on full effect.
