Just throwing this option out there.

I am in a few league that allow the trading of the current year draft picks. This allows the weaker teams (or should I say those rebuilding) the option to move a draft pick for a MLB player that may accelerate the rebuild.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts.

its only a 3 round draft. Even though I love the idea (the way I trade, lol), it just doesn't seem worth it to even allow trading...its only 3 rounds, more impact players are definitely taken in FA.

I don't mind allowing trading (current year only) draft picks. I like the idea of giving owners as many options as possible to build a team.

Like Rays say, a team could include a draft pick in a trade to acquire talent close to, or already in, the majors; thus rebuilding faster.

Fantrax has an option to turn on trading of draft picks, so it would keep track of them.

Given the RFA structure and the 3 round draft I don't think trading draft picks is that great an idea for this league. I think it works well in leagues without constant FA on MiLB players, but frankly FA is where farm systems are built in this league. If anything I think it should be the ability to trade players picked in the draft after the draft (I am working on a PTBNL proposal)

TLDR: I think trading picks is unneeded and adds a level of complexity and may not work with existing rules.

Indians make good points. I say we squash the idea of trading picks.

We should focus more on the trading of players after being picked.

So the question now becomes, should we allow the trading of drafted players sooner than June 1?

Just my two cents. I am conservative on this issue. I vote no on trading picks or loosening the June 1 rule. Trading picked players right away is the same as trading picks imo cause it takes no effort whatsoever to pre-arrange a deal.

June 1st is a great date, it allows time for the drafted player to get some minor league stats 1st to get a better grasp of their transition to the pro level.

Leave as is, not strong enough points to change it.
