After the draft, before the season begins, why not allow a week of private FA bidding? If a player is posted by multiple owners, then his name could be posted for everyone. No one should like the idea that while you do the research, everyone else can just look at the posted FA names and cherry pick.

lol, I said that my first year also. How I handle it, I post as many FA's as I can and let everyone do the research on all of them to see if they can find the one I am targeting.

I think there is some validity to doing your research and not letting people see names. With open bidding it is about bid amounts and timing (for example on prospects making people go over $ 1M on your guys).
In the end you still have to value the player correctly.
