It was requested of me on Slack that I post the power rankings that go into the creation of the playoff odds. Here they are.
Methodology
I download all the roster csv files off of Fantrax, parse them with my program, and match the players with their FanGraphs Depth Chart predictions. The DC projections takes projected playing time into account. Again, projections are not the greatest at projecting rookies and younger breakout players, so there are some things this can't take into account. I've found there's a decent correlation between AB/week and the percentage of the total R, HR, RBI and SB counted, similarly, there's a correlation between IP/week and W, K, and Holds (different equations for each stat). AVG, OPS, ERA and WHIP are determined by playing time of the individual players and then putting it into a team context. I then take all the expected stats and rank them according to Fantrax's system.
Is it a perfect system? No. Am I open to updating it with suggestions? Of course.
Anyway, without further ado:
Projected Hitting Stats
Projected Pitching Stats
* - Not projected to meet weekly quotas regularly
