Getting to the World Series


Each year, 12 teams will make the playoffs. Each division winner will be in, along with 3 wildcards from both the American and National League (best records after division winners). The fantasy season will end about 4 weeks before the MLB regular season does. The top 6 teams in each league will make the playoffs with the #1 and #2 seeds in each league receiving a first round bye. If either of the top seeds are tied, the tie-breaker will go to the best H2H record vs. each other. The tie-breaker to make the playoffs will be determined by head to head record. The second tie-breaker will be determined by division record, and the third tie-breaker is your cumulative season total of pitching wins. The first tie-breaker in a playoff game is the same as the regular season tie-breaker. The second tie-breaker, if there is still a tie then the higher seed will advance. The AL Champion will play the NL Champion in the World Series, and the winner will claim Champions of the League!

What a wild year! There are three teams that really stand out for me. Angels rebuilding into a dominant team and quickly. Reds rolled through the NL Central by dominating the NL Central itself, 7-1. And Diamondbacks. The Snakes have been a doormat for years and to see them in the playoffs again is exciting. That being said, the Giants are a juggernaut.

Totally agree with Beau.

Angels have had an amazing 12 months, to get the first pick in the draft, and lead the league in wins in the same year speaks volumes for the speed of the rebuild. I have never heard of this being done in any baseball league.

The other big take out this year is the increase in competitiveness across the league, there are still a few teams that were easier to beat than others (and they were in legitimate rebuild), but most teams are now highly competitive.

The build everyone should appreciate is the D-Backs, text book. They stood out to me in the pre season and hasn't disappointed. Their schedule was brutal compared to mine. Its a team that could have a 5-7 yr window.

Rays saved their season by trading away Chris Sale, gutsiest move of the year.
