In the process of tweaking the program, I came up with a system to (hopefully) better accumulate preseason projections into usable stats. I came up with historical correlations which attempt to take positions and multi-position players into account.
This will require an overhaul of my program eventually, so for now, I've put everything into an Excel worksheet in order to test it out.
Ever want to know how a free agent should theoretically affect your teams/stats? See how you'll stack up in comparison to the rest of the league?
If you want to know that second one, you're out of luck - not sharing my simulation algorithm.
BUT, if you want to know the answer to the first question, here's a worksheet. A few notes
1) It's still affected by projections. The formulas each have at least a .91 R-squared with end-of-season total stats vs. counted stats, but those may differ vastly from early projections. This is not intended to be 100% accurate at the end of the season. That's impossible to know.
2) If you are lacking significant at-bats at a certain position, the worksheet may project that group for more at-bats than they actually are projected for. (In my own calculations, there's only one team I've noticed in this position)
HOW TO USE
- Fill in the data from projections (Steamer, ZIPS, Depth Charts, etc.) - If a player on Fantrax has multi positions, place them in each position they're eligible for, as well as the gray multi-position area. - Don't touch the bottom
The very bottom line of the sheet is your forecast for the year.

If there are any questions, this is how it should look when filled in (projections from Depth Charts). Notice how d'Arnaud and Bellinger are in three spots each due to multi-position eligibility.
I'm already wearing my court-mandated "Spreadsheets Give Me A Boner" t-shirt!
You are the king of the spreadsheets here. This one's just temporary until I get my program revamped. The way I had assigned players and stats to teams doesn't easily let me add positions, and I haven't felt like doing an overhaul yet.
