Ok folks. The reality appears that baseball will not be happening until June at the soonest and more likely July. I still believe baseball will happen this year as there's too much money involved for it not to, but it will be dramatically delayed and very likely the season drastically shortened.

I've decided to take matters into my own hands and Sim PB's on the new OOTP baseball 2021. If you're not familiar with it, you may want to google it. Hollar and I have both tinkered with it in prior iterations. I'm going to import rosters from PBs to OOTP and sim the league on a daily basis, working with the existing MLB schedule. I will post results on a weekly basis, just for fun. This is not intended to be tied in any way to Fantrax or the actual league. That said, I'd like input from owners.

My thoughts are that I will set all team management to automatic at an equitable level. Teams interested in participating will be allowed to set their 26 and 40 man rosters as desired on a weekly basis via a shared excel spreadsheet. OOTP will do the rest. I can post screenshots, data, and access once I get it set up. This is a very preliminary stage, so please respond with ideas, interest, etc...

I think it should be lots of fun. I'll get the spreadsheet together. Teams will need to assign 26 man roster, pitching rotation and bullpen depth. 10 man minor league roster. For those folks not interested I'll set it and forget it. AI will manage it.

My thought is to have it be very limited injuries. Maybe injuries happen randomly, but never last longer than a day or a week or whatever. Maybe no injuries. No trading. Want to promote your prospects on day one? Go ahead. No service time issues here. If there aren't any injuries, you won't need the minor league depth. And no trading until MLB opens trading up again. This is something we should do here at PBs, too I think.

I even thought it might be fun for Hollar and I to call a game. You can go back and view the games, play by play. We'll see what Hollar thinks.

OOTP is a computer game that simulates MLB seasons with real players. Player and team performance is highly accurate. It's a fully detailed simulation of MLB and I'm going to use it to sim the entire season using PB rosters. The players will perform according to their player models and we'll play 162 games per the original MLB schedule. Playoffs and WS will be played, though none of these results will be tied to PBs officially.

I plan to to put standings and leaderboards up, do podcasts and updates about it. It's going to be my baseball fix until things get back to normal and I'm happy to share.

Open access to spreadsheet had been added. Anyone should be able to enter rosters as they see fit.

You have a 50 man roster, so work with anyone on your PB roster including minor leaguers, but only the 26 man roster will play. Please only work with your team. I do have an admin copy backed up. Thanks for all the interest!

Opening day is going to be pushed back a week or so.

Social distancing and now shelter in place has had unanticipated consequence. Namely, my wife had decided we need to do all the painting and moving around within the house that we had been putting off. Yay!

In addition, my two college students
Kids are now back in the house.

As a result, I'm not behind on entering team data. Dan has provided a file that should help tremendously, but I've been unable to get it run, yet.

Opening day is therefore pushed back a week or ten days, depending on my home projects. 🙂
