This is the information teams should provide if they want to actively participate.
The computer will generate all the info automatically, and the manager will generate line-ups daily, but I can set preferences. Please feel free to copy the template and post a link for it or put the info in a word doc. Any and all participation is welcome.
I'll try to update things weekly if you'd like to demote/promote a player from your 50 man roster. No need to, if you don't wish to. Players will need rest, but there will be NO injuries.

Haven’t done this before, but do they have player ratings listed somewhere? I’ve only played the mobile game and noticed that their ratings engine either isn’t aligned with prospect rankings or current player performance. Trying to figure out how to balance the two.

As for the backup catcher, you can't pick anyone not on your PBs roster. You can assigna non catcher. They will likely be bad, but with no injuries, it'll only be rest days for your starter. You might be able to ship the backup entirely.

I'm new to OOTP as well. If you go into the MLB tab, reports, player reports, you'll get detailed ratings for every player.
As for the alignment of ratings. That's tricky. The game has a simulated scouting feature. Team scouts will differ on their opinions of players ratings. Depending on how good your scout is, you'll get accurate or less accurate ratings. In game you can devote money from the financial aspect to scouting.
The game does have a hidden true value rating, that it uses for simulation, but your knowledge is only as good as your scouts.
FYI, the engine had picked the world series winner correctly the past two years at the start of the playoffs.

I am just putting Spencer Howard and Sixto Sanchez in the majors because who cares
I did the same with Paredes. We'll see how the game has them perform. Can adjust on a weekly basis if they get lit up. Or maybe they will get better as they go?

It's pretty labor intensive putting all the rosters in and setting the 26 man rosters. All other players getting stashed in AAA / A depending. I've got the Twins in and am going forward by the teams that fill out the spreadsheet first. I hope to have it all done by the 26th for opening day. Results and news will be up for that week at some point, but may not make opening day. I will try, though.
Spreadsheet is most helpful!

Also, coaches will make decisions on when to pull starters, how to rest players, etc... That's all automated. I just set available players and preferred line-ups.
Also disregard that Line-ups versus LHP or RHP. That's just going to be too much work to maintain. Your computer manager will handle that.

Batting order, rotation, bullpen, depth charts can all be automatically generated and managed by the AI. 26 man roster is essential for starting the season so that should be your highest priority.
Also, I think I said you had to have 13 relievers. Apparently, that's not true. It's probably a good idea, but who knows.

Another thing that occurred to me as I was placing Albert Pujols at 3rd base for Donovan is that Defense MATTERS. That's definitely something we're not used to. CJ Cron as a backup catcher is amusing. Pujols as a starting 3B is terrifying. Just saying.

This... This is awesome. Don't know if it's possible to share the league online, but I'm willing to set the lineups per request if it is. Or do whatevs.

Also, tiredness is a thing. If your players, especially pitchers and catchers or old dudes play too much their effectiveness will diminish, leading to lower stats in games. Something to consider. No one will break, but they lose stats and morale and thus in game effectiveness.
I've noticed few people listing backup catchers, for example. If you have one, it likely make sense to put him on the 26 man roster. If not, designate a backup. You can change the UT listing on the spreadsheet to make it clear. Depending on who you pick, they will be varying degrees of bad if they're not an actual catcher, but your starter will perform much better in the long run.
