So, there's only one feasible way I've found to do this, and even then it's fuzzy
I'm still on record as saying I don't want someone (or even to be that someone) to wait for months and months to only be eliminated the first week of competition. That's not fostering fun, in my opinion. Even this way isn't much better, but if we want to look at alternatives, this is a viable way to play the entire season as one big playoffs.
Divisional Double Elimination Tournament
This isn't much more than a one and done, as many teams will only play two games before being eliminated this way. But each division would play a 5-week (potentially 6 week) double elimination tournament (we'd only need to play week 6 in any tournament if a team suffers their first loss in week 5.
Wildcard?
If we want a wildcard
We can also use Week 6 as a week to determine a wild card. While we'll probably have some of the six championships decided that week, we can have every team that was a runner up and every team that hasn't been eliminated yet play each other. Once we know who were the three divisional runner ups, we count each stat win for them against the other runner ups. The team in the AL and NL that has the most is then crowned the wild card
If we don't need a wildcard
We seed the division winners in each league by roto standings. Whoever is seed #1 gets a bye week in the first round of the ensuing playoffs.
Championships
Weeks 7-9 are then the championship round. A three week playoffs with either 6 or 8 teams, depending on whether we do a wild card.
------
Since it was an idea some people here wanted to consider, this is the only viable way forward I see with this idea. It doesn't mean I would like to see this, personally. I think even getting eliminated after two weeks after waiting several months is awfully lame. Maybe that's just me.
