Here are the rules from two other really well ran leagues.
First, All-Star ran by PB members Amy and Kevin:
With the input we have so far we are leaning toward a multi match-ups per week (to get the most out of the whatever season we have for everyone) with the schedule we usually use. There will be multiple match-ups per week and a 3 or 4 week playoff. Most likely a 3 week playoff just to get more out of regular season.
We've also decided whoever paid the $20 to get into the league pool can get a refund if they choose (Contact Amy for that please). Not sure if we can refund the league fee of $3 or whatever but if we can we will refund that as well (Also contact Amy). If you want to pay any of that, that of course is fine as well but we felt that if you aren't getting a 100% of the product then you shouldn't have to pay. Whatever league fees are left the CO will take care of.
All contracts will be frozen if you want. That means we are leaving it up to the GM to make the decision for their own team. If you are a rebuilding team you may choose to get rid of the 2020 season of a player, if you're a contender you may choose to keep the 2020 season, or if you have a bunch of 1 year deals you may choose to keep or dump them. It'll be up to you. There would be a thread for this somewhere in the off-season. There will also be no Qualifying offers next year. We'll have just a normal Free Agency period with the FA's dropped/contract expiration.
All PP players will be frozen. That means they roll to next year no matter what.
There will be a unlimited Covid-19 IL. We are still thinking about the salary of the players who hit this list or sit out. If teams are found using this list in a wrongful manner, they will be hit with severe penalty (those penalties are to come when we think of them). There is a few options here. We could give teams salary back to help them replace said player but we haven't thought of all the repercussions this could cause for the future yet. Some discussion on this might help.
The trade deadline will be the date of the last MLB regular season game. So after midnight of the last game of the reg MLB season, no trades will be allowed.
There might be more things to think about but this is all we have for now. As always, your input is valuable so speak up if you have anything on your mind. Our goal here is to not hurt any team but try and find a way to help all teams.
And now Dynasty Baseball. For context, they are usually regular season roto + h2h playoffs:
We will be conductin a straight rotisserie-based scoring season (the same scoring system as our traditional regular season) consisting of all regular season games played. There will be no DGM playoffs this year.
The DGM trade deadline will be August 31, the same as MLB has set. Weekly free agency will end on Friday, August 28th.
Due to players getting COVID-19 or opting out of the season, GMs will have the option to renew any player, with an expiring contract after 2020, who doesn't play in 2020 for COVID-related reasons (M Leake, I Desmond, Felix Hernandez, etc) for one year for the same contract they have for 2020. To be clear, if a contracted player misses the season because of TJ surgery, he may not be renewed in the same way. Note that this was already the case with all PP-20 eligible players, but this year all players with a free agent contract ending after 2020 can be renewed as well.
GM's will receive a 50% cap relief on any player that does not play due to COVID related reasons. This is the case regardless of their contractual status after 2020.
I'll be updating the calendar as the season approaches. Might wait a week or two, given the uncertainty of things at the moment. Please note that any replies to this message will go out to everyone in the league, so if you think it would be helpful. go ahead. If you're just responding to complain (not that any of you would), maybe send me a separate PM.
