2021 Early Power Rankings

Note: Realize that the Power Rankings are importantly different than the Postseason Odds. They're based on the rankings and Z-Scores for each stat, which measures the projected accumulated individual stats for each team vs the mean and standard deviation. The postseason odds and projected wins take the schedule into account. Some teams that are lower than other teams on the power rankings have higher win totals due to myriad factors. These are just rankings in a vacuum

Terms
statTOTAL - the ranking based purely on ranking individual stats. It's what Fantrax does when you look at the stats for each team. Useful because it will more significantly affect a team if deficient in a category.
zTOTAL - the totaled z-scored for each stat category for a team. Usually these range from 2 to -2 (although outliers will swing more in either direction). Important because it shows just how dominant a team is. If the team with the most HRs has 20 more than the second most team, that's only a difference of a point with statTOTAL, but would be much more significant in zTOTAL. A completely average team would have a zTOTAL of 0.

The NL East is looking preliminarily stacked! And the NL West is going to be the same old bloodbath (all 5 teams in the top 13). And the NL Central isn't too shabby either ... OK, I think the entire NL is going to be a gauntlet to get through. 10 out of the top 13 rankings.

So naturally, an AL team will win the World Series this year.

Detroit's team looks amazing, hadn't noticed it until now. Thank god he still has a Colorado pitcher or the AL might be doomed.
