Top 10: How prospects 6-10 rank vs the league
Depth: How deep is your system? (especially past top 10)
~*~
#30 - Tampa Bay Rays
Last Year: #30
Top 5: F; Top 10: D-; Depth: D
Top 5
The Rays made the World Series last year. And continue to use their farm system as a way of staying on top through trades and the like.
#29 - Chicago White Sox
Last Year: #29
Top 5: D-; Top 10: N/A; Depth: F
Top 5
Very few teams churn through their farm system to turn it into major league talent as much as the White Sox do. Just barely had enough prospects to list 5.
#28 - Los Angeles Angels
Last Year: #25
Top 5: D-; Top 10: D-; Depth: D
Top 5
Another follower of the strategy we've seen so far. Alexander Mojica (#7 in the system) is an interesting breakout candidate.
#27 - Atlanta Braves
Last Year: #24
Top 5: D-; Top 10: D-; Depth: D-
Top 5
The Braves are still transitioning from having graduated their currently intimidating roster. Very little depth. A couple interesting bats in Sabato and Harris. Had to count nearly-graduated Karinchak in order to round out the top 5.
#26 - New York Mets
Last Year: #17
Top 5: D-; Top 10: D; Depth: D
Top 5
Pearson is the best prospect we've seen thus far. But is the only one here ranked in the top 100. I like Dax Fulton (#7 in the system) as a potential breakout, coming back from Tommy John suffered in his high school days.
#25 - Milwaukee Brewers
Last Year: #26
Top 5: D-; Top 10: D+; Depth: D+
Top 5
Another contender, another threadbare prospect system. Favorite sleeper in the system is Jeremy De La Rosa (#6).
#24 - Houston Astros
Last Year: #27
Top 5: D; Top 10: C; Depth: D+
Top 5
Improving system. Hancock was a nice pickup in the draft. Greg Jones and Reginald Preciado are intriguing prospects in their own right. Andry Lara and Keegan Akin give them hope for a breakout arm.
#23 - Detroit Tigers
Last Year: #15
Top 5: C-; Top 10: D+; Depth: D
Top 5
* - Hinds is in the process of being traded to the Rangers.
Detroit has built a real contender in the AL, partly by trading in their prospects for MLB talent. Not a very deep system, but Cristian Hernandez could be the next Marco Luciano type to skyrocket.
#22 - San Francisco Giants
Last Year: #16
Top 5: C; Top 10: D; Depth: D
Top 5
Really nice trio in Skubal, Brujan and Meyer. But then the depth falls off a cliff. Debated moving them higher on the strength of that trio, though.
#21 - Seattle Mariners
Last Year: #20
Top 5: C+; Top 10: D; Depth: D+
Top 5
Strength of the system is in pitching (including #6 Carmen Mlodzisnki to the pitchers above). Pena and Diaz are IFAs that could take a long time maturing, or could break out and move quicker than expected. Both show a lot of potential.
#20 - New York Yankees
Last Year: #14
Top 5: C; Top 10: B-; Depth: C-
Top 10
Nice mix of ceiling and floor, risk and safety in this farm system. I was a big fan of Bobby Miller's in the draft, and he could join Lynch and Kirby at the top of the list.
#19 - Minnesota Twins
Last Year: #23
Top 5: C; Top 10: B-; Depth: D+
Top 10
Larnach is a good centerpiece to the farm system, and I'm sure Rob's happy Larnach is in Minnesota. Paredes might win a job out of spring training.
#18 - Philadelphia Phillies
Last Year: #10
Top 5: B-; Top 10: D; Depth: D+
Top 10
Thin system, but a really nice trio of bats up top in Adell, Gonzales and Thomas. Pages is a great breakout candidate
#17 - Oakland Athletics
Last Year: #18
Top 5: C+; Top 10: C-; Depth: C-
Top 10
Luciano is the crown jewel here. Arozarena had an amazing showing in the playoffs last year, but should come back down to earth a bit. Not a ton of depth, but some nice breakout potential between Jose Garcia, Soderstrom, Rodriguez and Cappe.
#16 - Los Angeles Dodgers
Last Year: #21
Top 5: C+; Top 10: C; Depth: C+
Top 10
Carroll and Hayes are a great start to this system, with Hassell forming a very nice trio. While there is some depth to this system, there's a pretty precipitous drop from those three to the next tier.
#15 - Arizona Diamondbacks
Last Year: #8
Top 5: B; Top 10: D; Depth: D+
Top 10
Kelenic is a stud. But this is a relatively thin system here. Top 5 are all top 100 names, and there's a sizeable gap between them and the rest of the top 10. I like Masyn Winn as a pitcher or hitter, but have some concerns about developing him as a two-way player - good breakout potential, though.
#14 - San Diego Padres
Last Year: #22
Top 5: B; Top 10: C-; Depth: C-
Top 10
While the top 5 isn't as good as Arizona's, San Diego has a good deal more depth. Patino and Crochet should help this year. Breakout potential all over this system, in Perez, Thomas, Ramirez, Oslevis Basabe (#11) and Nasim Nunez (#13).
#13 - Pittsburgh Pirates
Last Year: #19
Top 5: C; Top 10: B-; Depth: B
Top 10
Dylan Carlson was a great pick in the 3rd round a few years ago, and might do some real damage soon. Patino is my favorite breakout candidate in the system.
#12 - Cleveland Indians
Last Year: #9
Top 5: B; Top 10: C+; Depth: C+
Top 10
Sanchez and Howard are a good couple of arms to build around, and both should graduate this year. As always, the Phillies are well-represented (Howard, Martin, Yhoswar Garcia (#14), Luis Garcia (#15), and Johan Rojas (#16)).
#11 - Colorado Rockies
Last Year: #13
Top 5: C+; Top 10: A; Depth: A+
Top 10
The Rockies don't have that elite prospect, but their strength is in their depth. Like last year, there's a lot of potential volatility to my system here, which relies heavily on breakout potential - apart from those even listed here, there's also Jake Vogel (#11), Alexfri Planez (#12), Coby Mayo (#14), Alexander Ramirez (#17), Robert Dominguez (#19), and Christopher Morel (#20), who have boom or bust potential. If you're going to gamble with lottery tickets, it helps to have a lot of them.
#10 - Chicago Cubs
Last Year: #28
Top 5: B-; Top 10: A-; Depth: A+
Top 10
After making the NLCS this year, the Cubs decided to blow it up and rebuild. They find themselves with a top-10 farm system as a result, something Beau has not had for a while. 26 of Beau's prospects fall within the top 300 I have ranked, giving him maybe the deepest system. Too many potential breakout names to mention, but apart from the list above, my favorites are probably Owen Caissie (#15) and Jared Jones (#16)
#9 - Cincinnati Reds
Last Year: #11
Top 5: B-; Top 10: A; Depth: A
Top 10
Another rich and deep system missing that elite prospect. Very bat-heavy system here, but my favorite potential breakout is a pitcher - Jairo Solis
#8 - Texas Rangers
Last Year: #12
Top 5: B; Top 10: B+; Depth: B+
Top 10
We should finally be able to get a look at what exactly Jasson Dominguez could be this year. Not the most top-heavy, or deep system, but a good, solid system everywhere you look.
#7 - Miami Marlins
Last Year: #7
Top 5: A-; Top 10: B; Depth: C-
Top 10
The thinnest system here in the top 10, the Marlins' top 5 is very strong, led by Gore. The Padres have so many pitchers that it's hard to predict how Gore will be used this year, but he should make a 2021 impact. Dingler is an intriguing breakout pick.
#6 - Toronto Blue Jays
Last Year: #2
Top 5: A; Top 10: A; Depth: A
Top 10
The top 5 are great, led by the overall #1 prospect in fantasy, Wander Franco. Another system with a good mix of risk and safety in their prospect pool.
#5 - St. Louis Cardinals
Last Year: #6
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A; Depth: B+
Top 10
Oh, the benefits of picking early several years in a row. Vaughn through Martinez are all among the top hundred prospects in baseball, with Lacy being a great add in the draft this year. Matthew Allan is a popular breakout pick here, and is in a system known for developing arms.
#4 - Baltimore Orioles
Last Year: #5
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: B+
Top 10
Baltimore already has built a playoff-caliber team in the AL, but this system could keep them there for years. Rodriguez and Torkelson are among the absolute best bats in the minors, with Davis offering enormous upside too. I'm not usually a fan of systems with two catchers in their top ten, but when those catchers can hit like Hernandez and Kirk, that's a good problem to have here.
#3 - Washington Nationals
Last Year: #1
Top 5: A; Top 10: A+; Depth: A+
Top 10
Washington might be behind Atlanta this year, but this system should see them return to glory, added to their current core. Eight of their top ten are solidly within the top 100 prospects. While the top ten is bat-heavy, the Nationals have several intriguing pitching prospects from #11-20.
#2 - Kansas City Royals
Last Year: #3
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A; Depth: A+
Top 10
That top 4 is an excellent group, built from high draft picks the last few years. Like the Nationals, eight of their top ten are solid top-100 guys. One of these years, the Royals rebuild will end. This might be the core to help get them there.
#1 - Boston Red Sox
Last Year: #4
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: A+
Top 10
The only thing I can really knock this system for is that the best prospect is a catcher, and if Rutschman can hit as advertised, that's not a valid complaint. If Bubic and Adams aren't quite top-100 prospects, they are often right outside, giving the Red Sox 10 prospects within most top-100 lists. Even after those names, you find potential breakouts like Ethan Hankins (#11) and Jordan Nwogu (#14).

Last Year: #3
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A; Depth: A+
Top 10

CJ Abrams | SS | SD |
Austin Martin | 3B | TOR |

Deivi Garcia | RHP | NYY |
Jordan Balazovic | RHP | MIN |
Daniel Espino | RHP | CLE |
Isaiah Greene | OF | NYM |
Alexander Canario | OF | SF |
That top 4 is an excellent group, built from high draft picks the last few years. Like the Nationals, eight of their top ten are solid top-100 guys. One of these years, the Royals rebuild will end. This might be the core to help get them there.
#1 - Boston Red Sox
Last Year: #4
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: A+
Top 10
Name | Position | Team |
Adley Rutschman | C | BAL |
Ian Anderson | RHP | ATL |
Noelvi Marte | SS | SEA |
Royce Lewis | SS | MIN |
Nolan Gorman | 3B | STL |
Andres Gimenez | SS | NYM |
Garrett Mitchell | OF | MIL |
Shane Baz | RHP | TB |
Kris Bubic | LHP | KC |
Jordyn Adams | OF | LAA |
The only thing I can really knock this system for is that the best prospect is a catcher, and if Rutschman can hit as advertised, that's not a valid complaint. If Bubic and Adams aren't quite top-100 prospects, they are often right outside, giving the Red Sox 10 prospects within most top-100 lists. Even after those names, you find potential breakouts like Ethan Hankins (#11) and Jordan Nwogu (#14).
