Use this thread to discuss the real life MLB offseason.
A few interesting trades and signings in the last day or so:
- Jayson Werth to the Nats for 7 years, $126M ($18M/year) - Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox for Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, Reymond Fuentes, PTBNL - Shawn Marcum to the Brewers for Brett Lawrie - Mark Reynolds to the Orioles for David Hernandez, Kam Mickolio
- Nats should have paid Crawford that money, 7 yrs, really!
- I hate the Red Sox even more now!
- Brett Lawrie can once again start saying, eh! and not feel awkward. Toronto should have got more, at least some bullpen help.
- The YardBirds finally have a 3B with a glove and stick, although he may challenge reggie jackson's strikeout totals in 10yrs instead of 20yrs....but what a steal for 35 homers anually, without giving up arrietta, tillman or patton. (thats right i said patton)
I see what the royals were thinking by doing the deal, Cain and Alcides are speed types and and the two pitchers have upside but i would have tried texas or oakland or the orioles. Teams that have far more minors depth than the brewers before i come back to it. if push comes to shove i wouldn't be totally disapppointed with a return like this but they could have gotten more
hey, the brewers have plenty of farm depth, they are just underappreciated. It is the same system that produced rickie weeks, fielder, braun and gallardo in recent years. Considering that less than 10% of all 1st rounders actually become elite players, 4 in the last 7-8 years, thats not too bad out of one system! The Brewers produce fantasy studs!! how many other teams have homegrown talent like that over the past few years. Now that they have a pitching staff, lookout NL...and for your info, jacob odorizzi is the top arm in there system, jeffress has incredible stuff, just needs to lay off the bong hits, Cain and escobar have good upside defensively and hopefully the bats follow. All in all, not bad for a 2 year rental. Do you think would have gotten more or less if he got injured in April and did not pitch. Brilliant move by the royals in my opinion. Not angry, just defending my farm system. (or rather my adopted farm system) ;-)
