Regular Disclaimer: his is for entertainment purposes only. I'm not a scout. These prospect rankings are aggregated and averaged using 9 Top 500 Prospect Rankings. Then I use an algorithm that ranks the system, with a lot of weight being given to the top of the lists for each team.
#30 - Atlanta Braves
Post-Trade Deadline: #30
Consensus Top 100: 0
Top 5: D; Top 10: D; Depth: D+
Top 10
The Braves won it all last year, and still look to be in heavy contention this year, so I'm sure they're fine with this placement. In the first round they chose to pick for short-term help rather than long-term upside, so while this system lacks for upside, there are a number of prospects potentially ready to help out as soon as this year.
#29 - San Francisco Giants
Post-Trade Deadline: #22
Consensus Top 100: 1
Top 5: D+; Top 10: D+; Depth: N/A
Top 10
The Giants have, like the Braves before them, been focused on winning for a few years now, and so prospects haven't been their primary focus. Meyer is their shining light, but with TJ surgery last year, he won't help the Giants out this year. With Rocker, Morales, and Hughes as the Giants' top picks, they went pitching heavy this year. But Rocker has health questions that need to be answered. There's talent here, but a lot of questions remain.
#28 - Houston Astros
Post-Trade Deadline: #28
Consensus Top 100: 0
Top 5: D+; Top 10: D+; Depth: C-
Top 10
Just missed having a consensus top 100 prospect, as Jett Williams comes in at 109, however three of the nine rankings I use had Williams in that top 100, with Rotowire placing them the highest at 72. I do think the Astros have a potentially volatile list, as they have several younger prospects who have the tools to rocket up lists. Substantially remade this farm system through the draft and subsequent free agency, with seven of their top ten having been acquired in the past month.
#27 - Milwaukee Brewers
Post-Trade Deadline: #24
Consensus Top 100: 1
Top 5: D+; Top 10: C; Depth: C
Top 10
Another team that prioritized short-term help in the draft this year with Joey Ortiz in the 1st and Lenyn Sosa in the 3rd. Ortiz had a great 2nd half of the season last year, so might also have untapped upside. Along with Wiemer and a couple other prospects here, while the system tends to lack impact potential, they might get several useful major leaguers graduating as early as this year.
#26 - Chicago White Sox
Post-Trade Deadline: #29
Consensus Top 100: 1
Top 5: C-; Top 10: C-; Depth: C
Top 10
Connor Norby is a very nice prospect, and one I regret trading (his huge AA breakout happened right after I traded him too). At 14 prospects, I think this is the most I've ever seen Aidan carry at one time. There's a good mix of nearly-ready prospects and high-risk/high-reward lower level prospects here, and while I'm sure most of these guys will be gone before the trade deadline, this is one of the better White Sox systems I can remember.
#25 - Miami Marlins
Post-Trade Deadline: #16
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C-; Top 10: C; Depth: C
Top 10
James Triantos disappointing last year helped precipitate this draft, as he went from a consensus top 100 prospect to more of a top 300 prospect now. Henry Davis, while still a top 100 guy also dropped a bit as the catcher renaissance saw several younger catchers surpass his ranking. That's not to say that this farm system is bereft of talent - DeLauter was a nice 1st round selection, Davis still looks like the long term answer at catcher for the Pirates, and there are other prospects here that could move this farm system back up by midseason, especially with a strong heavy-college draft class.
#24 - Detroit Tigers
Post-Trade Deadline: #25
Consensus Top 100: 1
Top 5: C-; Top 10: C-; Depth: C-
Top 10
This system isn't as deep as some of those ranked below it, but Jackson Holliday alone puts the Tigers here as the consensus 12th overall prospect. I'm a fan of Tucker Toman, and was hoping to pick him up in the draft. Two of their top three prospects have already started the year in the big leagues with Cavalli and Burleson, so this system is already paying off.
#23 - San Diego Padres
Post-Trade Deadline: #23
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C; Top 10: C-; Depth: D+
Top 10
The Padres have heavily utilized their farm system this offseason to bolster their big league squad, but they've kept their best prospect, Gavin Williams. It's a very pitcher heavy system, with their best position player, Gabriel Martinez, coming in as the #256 consensus prospect. But Wesneski started in the Cubs rotation this year, and Williams could add another high-end starter by the end of the year.
#22 - Baltimore Orioles
Post-Trade Deadline: #21
Consensus Top 100: 1
Top 5: C-; Top 10: C; Depth: B
Top 10
The AL Pennant winners will likely see this list fall substantially by midseason, as three of their top ten (Brennan, Muller, and Benson) have all started in the majors. Cody Morris likely would have joined them, if not for an injury. With eyes on the world series, this is another team that drafted more for immediate help than long-term upside in the first round, but Brennan is still the #112 overall consensus ranked prospect and started out in the majors, so objective achieved. I really like Mason Miller, the Orioles' 2nd round selection.
#21 - Cincinnati Reds
Post-Trade Deadline: #15
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C; Top 10: C; Depth: B-
Top 10
I feel like a broken record at this point when I point out that the Reds drafted for short-term help in Addison Barger, whose bat I do like quite a bit. Off to a strong start in only a few games in AAA, Barger could make an impact this year. Arias already is in the majors as well. Cabrera adds the kind of high-upside/high-risk prospect that is otherwise missing in most of this system, which seems to prioritize floor and safety, which can be just as useful in a league such as this.
#20 - Minnesota Twins
Post-Trade Deadline: #27
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C; Top 10: C-; Depth: D+
Top 10
The draft the Twins just had refueled this farm system in a big way, with six of these top ten coming from that draft. I've seen the nickname "Baby Bonds" be thrown about in reference to Emmanuel Rodriguez, who has big power, and whose rise up the rankings could have been even bigger if injuries hadn't halted his 2022 season early. Misiorowski and Prielipp have nice upsides, but are closer to 200 than 100 in the rankings right now.
#19 - New York Mets
Post-Trade Deadline: #26
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C; Top 10: C; Depth: D+
Top 10
Andrew Painter is a fantastic young pitcher, but may be facing TJ surgery soon, if the non-surgical options don't help. While their second round pick (Dylan Beavers) ranks above their first rounder (Cole Young), it is by the thinnest of margin, as they come in as #157 and #158 in the consensus rankings (and have only a .66 difference in the pure average of the nine lists). Both have considerable upside.
#18 - Seattle Mariners
Post-Trade Deadline: #18
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: C+; Top 10: C+; Depth: B-
Top 10
Outside of their three top 100 guys (Ruiz, Westburg, Keith), they've got a number of highly tooled players, with Porter and Montes as two standouts there. Despite Porter's real life draft position, he might be the second most talented high school pitcher in the past draft class, and could really move up rankings this year if he lives up to expectations. I'm also a big fan of Bryan Woo, who the Mariners picked up late in the draft. I was hoping he'd fall to me in the 5th, but that didn't work out. I don't think there's too much of a differnce between him and Prelander Berroa who was picked much earlier in the draft (which isn't a slight on Berroa).
#17 - Tampa Bay Rays
Post-Trade Deadline: #14
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: C+; Top 10: B-; Depth: B
Top 10
Eury Perez is one of the best pitching prospects in the game, and Brooks Lee was a nice grab in the first round. There's a good mixture of safer prospects close to the bigs with more risky higher upside prospects in the lower levels, like Keiner Delgado. Ryne Nelson already started in the major league, with others like Burrows and Toglia perhaps joining him this year.
#16 - New York Yankees
Post-Trade Deadline: #20
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: C+; Top 10: B-; Depth: B
Top 10
System ranking here is helped by the decision to have anyone who hasn't had a Qualifying Season count as a prospect, meaning Yoshida at #85 overall is eligible. Unsurprisingly, Yoshida is already in the majors, and will probably be joined by Miller, Aranda, Silseth, and potentially Pereira by the end of the year.
#15 - Arizona Dimaondbacks
Post-Trade Deadline: #12
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: B-; Top 10: C+; Depth: C-
Top 10
Mayer, Arroyo and Cross could be the building blocks of Arizona's future. But there's a precipitous drop after that to Drew Waters, who still has upside if he can ever put it all together. The weakness of this system, by far, is pitching, with the Diamondbacks' best pitching prospect being Ethan Small at #388 overall in the consensus rankings. Bruns has stuff for days but no one, including him, knows where the ball is going. That being said, the there is some considerable upside for future offense in this system, led by the first three.
#14 - St. Louis Cardinals
Post-Trade Deadline: #10
Consensus Top 100: 2
Top 5: B-; Top 10: C+; Depth: C-
Top 10
I would have said that Miguel Vargas is one of the best bats in the minor leagues, but that's not accurate anymore, as he's started the season with the Dodgers. The Cardinals nearly had a third representative in the top 100 prospects, but Drew Gilbert came in at #101 overall. Similar to the system right above it, bats are the strength here. Reese Olson, the top pitching prospect has upside but hasn't yet put it all together, and just barely makes the top 200.
#13 - Kansas City Royals
Post-Trade Deadline: #6
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: B-; Top 10: B; Depth: B+
Top 10
Kansas City is making a playoff push this year, and used the farm system to start making strides in that direction, which caused a fall down the rankings. But they still have a few really intriguing options. Espino, when healthy, is one of the best arms in the minors. Rocchio should be up in the majors this year with the Guardians. And if not for injury issues, Canario might have started the season in the majors. You won't find Ben Joyce, the Royals first round selection, among the top 10 prospects, as relief prospects will never rate highly on prospect lists (for the record, he's the Royals' 13th ranked consensus prospect and #347 overall, which is the highest reliever-only prospect on the list), but it seems likely he'll become the Angels' closer sooner rather than later.
#12 - Boston Red Sox
Post-Trade Deadline: #17
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: B; Top 10: C+; Depth: D+
Top 10
If Royce Lewis can ever stay healthy, he's a potential stud and building block for the Red Sox, but health continues to be an issue. Losing Baz for 2023 with the September Tommy John surgery stings for sure, but he's extremely talented. And Spencer Jones was a solid first round pick. After the first five prospects, there's a steep drop in the system, and it's not the deepest, but the top half of this system places it pretty high.
#11 - Los Angeles Angels
Post-Trade Deadline: #19
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: B; Top 10: B; Depth: B-
Top 10
Elijah Green is a unicorn, and if he can improve the hit tool and eye at the plate, could be among the best prospects in all of baseball. Even with the high K% and concerns, he's the 29th overall consensus prospect, ranking as high as 18th overall on the various lists. Mervis, CES, and Graceffo provide players that have upside and are all expected to contribute this year. But this system also has several longer-term high-upside plays in guys like Carlos Jorge and Henry Bolte.
#10 - Texas Rangers
Post-Trade Deadline: #13
Consensus Top 100: 3
Top 5: B+; Top 10: B-; Depth: C-
Top 15
Texas has two of the top twenty prospects in Elly De La Cruz and Jasson Dominguez, with Miguel Bleis looking like he could also make a massive jump up lists in the next year. Depth isn't great here, as after Berry and Jobe, who are in ranked in the mid-hundreds, the rankings drop out fast. Jobe was highly regarded not long ago,, so there's still hope that he figures things out. Make no doubt about it though, there's impact potential at the top of this list.
#9 - Oakland Athetics
Post-Trade Deadline: #11
Consensus Top 100: 4
Top 5: B+; Top 10: B+; Depth: C+
Top 15
Three of their top fifteen are already contributing, as Senga, Colas and Grove all broke Spring with their respective MLB clubs. The A's have four of the 52 top prospects. Mead has developed into one of the best bats in the minors, but Tampa Bay handles their prospects in unpredictable ways. Hopefully, he'll contribute for Oakland this year Ortiz and Berroa are good pitching prospects, outside the upper echelon, but with tools that could lead to major league success. Vaquero and Mayea have massive upside with a lot of risk, but are forever away from the game.
#8 - Washington Nationals
Post-Trade Deadline: #9
Consensus Top 100: 4
Top 5: A-; Top 10: B-; Depth: B-
Top 15
Like the A's (almost), the Nationals have four of the top fifty prospects, but they also have two of the top seventeen, in Tiedemann and Casas. After the trade deadline, I gave the Nationals props for a great draft last season (I'll count Tiedemann in that class, even though he was an undrafted free agent), but I didn't include Pfaadt as part of that, who has rocketed up to the 40th overall ranked prospect. Could their 2023 draft be as big of a hit? Probably not, but that's only because that's a very lofty standard to meet. Barriera was one of top high school pitchers in the draft, and Thompson, Melton and Basallo all have upside as well. It'll be tough to follow up that past draft, though.
#7 - Philadelphia Phillies
Post-Trade Deadline: #5
Consensus Top 100: 9
Top 5: A-; Top 10: A+; Depth: A
Top 15
The Phillies are stacked with depth, and the only thing that hold them back from ranking higher is that their highest ranking prospect is Termarr Johnson, at #26 overall. It wouldn't be shocking to see him move up, though. However, despite lacking the top end of some of the systems before them, they have the second most top 100 prospects of anyone in the league. Three rank in the top 50, with the other six in the back half of that list, but still, depth is the name of the game in this 30-prospect-deep team. I could honestly go on and on about players I like here, but I'll touch on just a few: Endy Rodriguez is one of the vanguard of the Catcher Renaissance. Tink Hence has a lot of potential, and is in a good system for pitchers in St. Louis. My favorite prospect in this entire system might be Jarlin Susana, who has the potential to be maybe the top-ranked pitcher in the minor leagues in a couple years.
#6 - Toronto Blue Jays
Post-Trade Deadline: #4
Consensus Top 100: 5
Top 5: A; Top 10: A-; Depth: C
Top 15
The highly ranked 3B duo atop the rankings here both opened in the majors and could provide the Blue Jays with one of the best CI duos in this league if they live up to potential. Veen and Harrison round out an impressive top 4, as the #27 and #28 ranked prospects, respectively. Moreno is the final top 100 here, and should graduate to the majors after 25 games played last year and the offseason trade to the Diamondbacks irl. Depth isn't huge here, unlike the Phillies, but there are some interesting names in the system after the big five, led by the three 2023 draft prospects in Hjerpe, Wallace, and Lockler, all taken in the top three rounds this year. Finally, I think Ballesteros has the potential to join the catcher renaissance as soon as this year, potentially.
#5 - Cleveland Guardians
Post-Trade Deadline: #7
Consensus Top 100: 5
Top 5: A; Top 10: A+; Depth: A-
Top 15
Oh man, if Sixto Sanchez can ever get healthy, #15 could look silly, but that's a HUGE question these days. Wood, Carter, Baty and Merrill all have extremely high upside, and provide a strong prospect core for the Guardians, finding themselves among the top 35 prospects. Just missing the top 100 is Dalton Rushing, who had a huge post-draft season in the minor leagues, and could easily rise up rankings if he backs up that performance this year. I thought Cleveland got two of the biggest steals of the entire draft with Eric Brown in the 2nd and Jordan Beck in the 3rd. I was also a big fan of the 4th round selection of Marco Raya (#17 on this list) and Victor Lizarraga in the 5th (#21).
#4 - Pittsburgh Pirates
Post-Trade Deadline: #8
Consensus Top 100: 7
Top 5: A; Top 10: A+; Depth: A
Top 15
Chourio has one of the absolute highest ceilings in the minors, which the rankings reflect at #5 overall. Not bad for an undrafted free agent last year. O'Hoppe and Brown both started off the season in the minors, giving the Pirates big league squad potentially a big boost at C and SP. Depth is a strong point of this system, going 29 prospects deep. I liked Xavier Isaac a lot in this past draft, and think he might be a little underrated, especially in the system he's in.
#3 - Los Angeles Dodgers
Post-Trade Deadline: #2
Consensus Top 100: 5
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: B+
Top 15
Two top ten prospects highlight this system, both of them Diamondbacks in real life. Carroll, the #1 overall prospect, has opened the season in the majors, and looks very likely to graduate off this list by midseason. Other prospects already in the majors: Yainer Diaz and Ken Waldichuk, who look to be nice depth additions to the Dodgers fantasy squad. Cam Collier was one of my favorite prospects in this draft, and I think he could be a monster. The Dodgers have a ton of depth, but there's a few big drops in quality in the rankings at spots, and an especially large one between #13 (Bae) and #14-26 (starting with Ivan Herrera)
#2 - Colorado Rockies
Post-Trade Deadline: #1
Consensus Top 100: 14
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: A+
Top 15
Seven of the top fifty prospects, another seven of the next fifty, the Rockies are absolutely loaded with high end prospects and depth. A whopping 35 prospects fall in the top 300 consensus overall. Walker, Tovar, and #17 prospect Spencer Steer are already playing in the majors, and a few others are likely to graduate off this list this year as well. But there's enough depth and potential breakouts in this system to keep the Rockies close to the top of this list at midseason, even as some breakout shots inevitably miss. First round pick, Dylan Lesko, the 126th overall prospect slots in at #20 in the Rockies' list. If there's one thing the Rockies lack, it's safety/floor. Give me that upside all day. If anything, though, there's safety in sheer numbers (39 prospects deep).
#1 - Chicago Cubs
Post-Trade Deadline: #3
Consensus Top 100: 7
Top 5: A+; Top 10: A+; Depth: A+
Top 15
The Cubs don't have the depth of the Rockies, but no one has the top end of the Cubs, who have four of the top 15 prospects in the league. They're also likely to have a number of graduations, with Volpe and Outman starting the season in the big leagues, with others like Manzardo and Rodriguez likely not far behind. The Cubs did very well for themselves in this year's draft, nabbing who I considered to be the top overall prospect in the draft in Druw Jones, and one of, if not the top international prospect(s) in Ethan Salas. I was also a big fan of the Paulino pick later in the draft, as he's one of my favorite sleepers. The Cubs rebuild continues, but is starting to show some big time payoff.

But Wesneski started in the Cubs rotation this year, and Williams could add another high-end starter by the end of the year.

Andrew Painter is a fantastic young pitcher, but may be facing TJ surgery soon, if the non-surgical options don't help.

Cam Collier was one of my favorite prospects in this draft, and I think he could be a monster.
