2016:
All teams have a salary cap of $135 million
All teams have 1 Franchise option
All teams have 1 Restricted option[/b]
Please note that this dynasty league was originally designed around our teams starting with players from the rosters of real life teams of the same names. In order for this to work, salary cap tiers were put in place. As time goes by, most teams do not have the same players or contracts as do their real life counterparts. So to promote an even playing field we will be moving to a single cap for all teams. After much discussion and debate this is the current and future salary cap system.
Obviously the cost of player’s contracts in real life does not stay stagnant. Inflation over the past 50 years has caused the annual salaries of players to steadily increase over time. With this in mind, salary caps can change. If salary caps do change, it would only be done in the off-season with sufficient notice.
It is important to know that your team must remain under the assigned salary cap at all times or you may face disciplinary action from the Commissioner’s Office.
It is unacceptable to exceed the salary cap and roster restrictions of 50 total players (or 34 total minor leaguers). You are, however, allowed to submit bids and complete trades that initially put you over. When submitting bids or completing trades, you MUST outline a specific plan to get under. For example, if signing Albert Pujols pushes me over the salary cap, within my bid (or in a separate PM), I must say that I will release such-and-such or I will designate for assignment such-and-such and that definitively gets me under the cap. I hope this is clear.
Teams will not be allowed to eclipse the salary cap for future seasons in the same way that they can't eclipse the current season cap.
