The Rays and the Padres have agreed on the following trade.

Rays send -

P - Xzavion Curry (CLE) - $740,000 (2/5)
P - Ryan Weathers (MIA) - $700,000 (2024-2029)
RP - Jason Foley (DET) - $700,000 (2024-2025)
P - Luis Serna (NYY) - $1,000,000 (Milb)

Padres send -

OF - Jazz Chisholm (MIA) - $2,625,000 (4/5)

The Rays agree to this trade, it helps reduce the number of players we need to release (and we know those meetings are difficult). Weathers is the biggest loss for me in this deal, as I think he will be a good middle of the rotation arm for years to come.

We welcome Chisholm who will provide a valuable Power/Speed combination.

This is a tricky deal because I know Jazz has a lot of value and could be one of the best players in the game if he can play 160 games a year. However, this league is unique in the 2 OFer format and no one seems willing to trade pitching, since there are 8 spots where you can use RP pitching, it becomes a very valuable commodity.
Obviously I wouldn’t do this deal if I didn’t think O’Neill will deliver good stats this year. I always think that you need 2/3 (Hitting, SP, RP) to be strong. You need to win 6.5 or more categories per week. With the Foley addition, I think I have one of the deepest bullpens in the league and should be able to take holds each week.
SP is more of a wildcard for me as I got several guys that could be good or could suck. Weathers is another egg in another basket. Weathers is interesting because he’s still only 24 (same age as a lot of guys debuting) has looked good this spring, is on a team good at developing SP and is signed cheaply for 6 years. Curry and Serna add value to the trade.
