This was posted on the cbox today.
I copied and pasted it for all to see.
Pat(Reds): I guess what I'm saying is: right now we have three different types of minor leaguers. 1 a player that started on our original rosters. 2. A player that we drafted. 3. a player won as a FA and signed to a flat minor league AAS contract. So if the player wasn't signed as a free agent to a minor league contract with an AAS, then we go by real life salary?
Braves: players won in FA get their AAS same every year until the 1st year they are protected at real-life salary
so if u have mike olt at $3M AAS u pay him 3m aas until the year after he plays 50 games then u pay him rls for 4 years
players on our original rosters and those we drafted are $400k unless they have a mlb deal in place like yonder alonso, bryce, harper, etc.
Pat(Reds): OK that is good explanation. I Hope this clarifies things for everyone. As long as they read the cbox.
It actually includes more players than you think because of player service time in MLB.
For example I have Juan Francisco who here in PB is still a Milb player and hasn't entered protection yrs yet. In real life he has enough service time that he made .414 Mil last yr.
Braves: that is something we don't count unless the contract is concrete i believe
Pat(Reds): I was just going by what Cot's has listed and I guess that is something we need to have answered.
Braves: that what francisco would make in majors but if in minors he doesn't make that so theres no concrete mlb deal in place
i guess pb needs to answer or explain
Braves: i'd personally vote that any draft prospects making under $3M in salary in mlb are just flat $400k and any draft prospects making $3M or more then we increase the # so only for guys like darvish, cespedes, etc.
Pat(Reds): I think with the new CBA in MLB that from now on they cant give Major League contracts to players being drafted. So it may only apply to Foreign imports in the future. Never mind: According to Jayson Stark the only exception will be for drafted players who have scholarships in other sports. In other words some of the best athletes.
PB (Nats): Correct, in the future drafted players can't get MLB deals, so moving forward all draftees would have salaries of $400K. What Kevin said before about originals/draftees is right, along with signed players. But in regards to a case like Francisco, that is something I don't believe is outlined in the rules, however, the golden rule is that we work off Cot's, so if he's on Cot's, take that salary.
PB (Nats): That only applies to originals and draftees, however, as signed players have that distinct salary attached to them until they lose eligibility.
PB (Nats): If anybody has any suggestions to make it more concrete, please post things like this in a thread in either the General Board or Suggestions, so it's readily available for all to see.
