Sorry for the mix up. I was going off my limited understanding of the clubhouse list. In that case I would want to hang on to four actually six of them. Namely...

Michael Schwimer
Robbie Ross
Sean Coyle
Darin Gorski
Anthony Slama

Would I be subject to a cap penalty for releasing them, versus non-tendering them? As far as could tell, they were all listed as 2012 as final year. Protected prospects at .400 per year would have a .200 penalty for releasing them, yes? Not so if non-tendering them?

Yes you're better off non-tendering to save yourself the cap penalties. Minor league players can be released off of the 10-man minor league roster at any time without a cap penalty. Non-tendering only happens during a brief part of the offseason where you elect not to retain players under protection. Even though the deadline has passed, you have the option to do so now since you're new.
