If there is more than one team available, do the new owners get to select their own teams? If a team available is in 1st place and lets say I have one of my buddies jump in and take it over...is that just the way the cookie crumbles or is there a rule that covers this?

I know that Pirates and I got to pick. Yankees were available with a much better roster, but we both passed. My opinion is that new owners get their pick of available rosters. Everyone has different ideas and priorities, why try to force a roster on someone who doesn't want it? No need to lottery it. They should get their choice as they come on board.

In general they get to select. Each team is different, just because they are in first place now doesn't make them the best going forward. I opted for a more balanced roster when I started over one that was complete win now.
It is really kind of crap shoot on when you join and what is available.
