2014 Farm System Rankings

It is that time of year, time for someone to arbitrarily rank all of your farm systems. These are for fantasy value not for real life value. The player evaluations are mine alone, so take it all up with me. (Also I only ranked rookie eligible players w/o previous professional experience, so no Tanaka, Abreu, etc.)

Some Thoughts:
- The Braves fall from 5 to 30 is pretty incredible, and a really bad draft cemented them at the bottom
- The Cubs drop is understandable as they turned Gausman, Davidson, Biddle, and Colome into Rizzo, Hamilton, and Cobb
- The Giants rebuild has accelerated nicely, and the farm looks good having been topped with first overall pick Kris Bryant
- The Royals also had a nice offseason of farm building, I thought Eloy Jiminez was a bit of a reach in the first round, but ultimately the Royals could have the last laugh
- The Reds did not jump up in the rankings, but they might have had my favorite draft, and while only at 25th, their Top 5 of Raimel Tapia, Franchy Cordero, Keury Mella, Francisco Mejia, and Alberto Tirado could but them in the Top 10 by end of the season
- The Top 3 farm systems are loaded, and I am personally glad that I am in the AL

My low ranking doesn't surprise me, but with Segura, Gray, Profar in year two of protection and Machado in year three, I feel like I'm probably in better shape with my youth a bunch of guys ahead of me.

Tremendous work here. I know how much time this takes.

Not to toot my own horn, but I think it's pretty remarkable that in the last two years I've graduated two AL Rookies of the Year in Trout and Myers, as well as guys like Willin Rosario, Nolan Arenado, Gerritt Cole, Chris Archer and more, and manage to remain at the top. I think that's going to come to an end next year, when Bogaerts, Polanco, Castellanos and co. are all no longer eligible.

Now it's up to one of those guys to continue my string of RoY trophies.

Also, I'm really surprised you don't have Carlos Correa as one of my top 5. Is that an oversight or do you really like Aaron Sanchez and Julio Urias more than him?

Awesome work! This list is solid. I am actually petty happy with my farm as I cashed in alot of chips this offseason. At one point, I was down to two prospects.

Thought with Cosart qualifying as a rookie, that my ranking would be a little higher. Loved my draft this year and last, but didnt expect a top 10 rank but closer to 15 or higher is what I thought I would get. Great work as I know this stuff takes a lot of time if done right. Thanks.

Cosart with his 60 IP (and 10 GS for our purposes) no longer qualified as a rookie. If he had than your farm is near that Top 15 mark.

[Rays GM (Donavan)]

I am ranked a low 27 out of 30, and to be honest this off-season is the first time, I have tried to build a farm.

At least my best 5 ranked farm players were all acquired this year either in trade, drafted or free agency.

Next year I will be targeting the top 25....
