Fantrax: Roster, Scoring, Playoffs
Like all of PB's Fantasy Sports leagues, PB's Fantasy Baseball is a Head to Head league (H2H), that will incorporate the format of most categories is a win. For example, in a given week you are only awarded 1 win if you win the most amounts of categories vs. your opponent; opposed to 7-5 if you won 7 categories and lost 5. If a game ends in a tie (6-6), then the winner will be decided as specified in the Tiebreaker Amendment, found here. If there still remains a tie, the match will result in a tie. This format has been created to optimize the activity and chatter in the league and to promote trading between teams. As in real life baseball, to win the World Series, it not only takes getting to the playoffs, but it also takes a hot team, as well as clutch hitting and pitching to win it all. This will likely be the case in PB's Fantasy Baseball. The best team is not always guaranteed to win. Lets Play Ball!
PB's Fantasy Baseball will be played through Fantrax.
Fantrax Roster
On Fantrax, your 50-man roster may be broken down into active, reserve, injured, minors as you see fit. Again, you CANNOT use anyone on your 10-Man salary exempt list to accumulate stats for your team without promoting them first to your 40-Man Major League Roster.
You will have the option of selecting a player to fill the “active” positions on your roster. Only “active” positions will accumulate statistics throughout the course of the season and determine how successful your team is. The active roster spots are as follows:
8 Pitchers (can be starters; middle relievers; set-up men; closers)
1 C (Catcher)
2 CI (1B or 3B)
2 MI (2B or SS)
2 OF (Outfield)
1 UT (Any offensive position)
These players may be moved in and out of the “active” position spots on a daily basis. This means you can set your lineup differently every day and are not restricted to changing your lineup once a week. You do, however, have the option of setting your roster days in advance through Fantrax. With this feature especially, know that not setting your lineup is unfair to both your opponent and to every GM vying for a playoff berth. Failure to set your lineup will not be tolerated and may lead to eviction from the league. It is VERY important. You are responsible for giving it your best EVERY week.
The statistical categories that will be tabulated to determine the League Champion each year are split into two major areas: pitching and hitting. The categories are as follows:
Pitching – Wins, Saves, Holds, ERA, Whip, K's
Hitting – Runs, HR, RBI, SB, OPS, AVG
Tie-breaker.
The in-season tie breaker is whichever team has a higher total amount by adding together HR+SB+W+SV. If there is still a tie after the tie-breaker, then the match-up is a tie.
Innings Pitched Minimum
In order for people not to abuse the H2H system, you must have accumulated a minimum of 30 IP over the course of a week. . If you DO NOT reach 30 IP for a given week, you will forfeit the ERA & WHIP categories. This will make it difficult to win.
AB minimum
Getting to the World Series
In order for people not to abuse the H2H system, you must have accumulated a minimum of 100 AB over the course of a week. . If you DO NOT reach 100 AB for a given week, you will forfeit the AVG & OPS categories. This will make it difficult to win.
Each year, 12 teams will make the playoffs. Each division winner will be in, along with 3 wildcards from both the American and National League (best records after division winners). The fantasy season will end about 4 weeks before the MLB regular season does. The top 6 teams in each league will make the playoffs with the #1 and #2 seeds in each league receiving a first round bye. If either of the top seeds are tied, the tie-breaker will go to the best H2H record vs. each other. The tie-breaker to make the playoffs will be determined by head to head record. The second tie-breaker will be determined by conference record, and the third tie-breaker is your cumulative season total of pitching wins. The first tie-breaker in a playoff game is the same as the regular season tie-breaker. The second tie-breaker, if there is still a tie then the higher seed will advance. The AL Champion will play the NL Champion in the World Series, and the winner will claim Champions of the League!
