Astros Roster

I'm playing the Houston Astros this week. Please double check me but according to the Astros players in Fantrax, he has an illegal roster. He has 43 active players, none of which are eligible to be moved to his minor league roster as all have played in MLB games.

Has this come up before? It seems to me to be a clear abuse of the roster rules and offers an immediate competitive advantage. As a team who's had wins taken away because of the IP limit rule, I'm inclined to ask for similar treatment for the Astros unless this is remedied.

I'm not trying to stir the pot, but this sort of violation is pretty unambiguous and shouldn't be allowed.

I'd appreciate as many teams as possible weighing in on this.

Are you kidding me!? Its not just a clear violation of the rules. It is outright cheating. Any week that he had more than 40 active major league player his team shouldn't get points in my opinion. Any what about all the free agents that he has got? I wish i would have won Scott Van Slyke but it was harder for my going up against a team that is cheating, prolly didnt even have a roster slot. I think immediate action should be taken, all wins with illegal rosters should be vacated. I havent played the astros fyi. If u Click on Rules and then 50 man roster its clear.

- A team can have up to 50 players. You are allowed to have less than 50. You can choose to have fewer than 10 players on your salary exempt list, but may not exceed 40 on your active 40 man roster.

He was notified of his roster violation over a week ago and has done nothing to fix it.

We have had a previous issue with this GM with being as much as 20M over the salary cap last year and being over roster limit for large periods of time. This should not be tolerated and since he has already commited a major violation the punishment this time around should be more severe, IMO.

It is also the COMMISH's fault for not having Fantrax set up right because if the settings were set correctly, as soon as he had over 40 active player, the roster should have been illegal and Fantrax would not allow any of those stats to count. It is not hard to do and takes all of 30 seconds, so saying you dont have time or too busy is absolute BULLSHIT. This is one of many reasons why I almost left in offseason and this will probably be my last year in this league.

Yeah we need more leadership in this league. My opinion is this league is falling apart and needs leadership to stay together. What has happened here is a great example of that. I also like Victor am thinking this might be my last year also. I actually like this league alot, but this year has not been a good one as people have not been following rules and those that haven't have been allowed to slide in many cases. PB has been busy and has many personal problems which is very very understandable. Real lives first!!!! Ok again this isn't my forte usually stay behind the seens and play, but as I said I like this league and thought this was a good time to speak up. PB maybe u should allow others to do alot more or have a bit more control? Your call just a suggestion.

Just wanted to say this is my first year and I like this league. The infrastructure is solid, just needs tightened a little. 30 teams is bad-ass. I really have not seen any egregious failings (until now maybe). Don't know the facts about the roster thing, but cheating is ZERO TOLERANCE in my book. If that is the case, of course.

I'd absolutely like to second what the Cubs said. I REALLY like this league and am seriously invested in the long term health of the whole.

Tightening up a little is a great way of putting it. That's the only reason I brought the issue up. Let's fix it so owners don't get frustrated about lack of rules enforcement.

Yeah this needs to be addressed. I have taken the time to invest in this league as a new owner to try and completely rebuild a roster and would like to continue to build but it is difficult without good administration.

We need to start by enforcing the rules on the books

And, with this particular GM, there's an extensive history of falsifying contract info to suit his needs, being WAY over cap and roster limits and generally displaying a penchant to cheat/manipulate the system.

My 2 cents.

ASTROS Violation

!) Astros pick 3 players that he will have to drop immediately.

2)The stats for those 3 players are also taken out for every week since they have been on the Astros team.

3)The adjustment to week scores would be reconfirmed with the numbers now removed.

TIGERS Violation

The Tigers not have a legal roster since the beginning of the season or (9 consecutive weeks)

1) Force them to drop enough players that would allow them to bid on FA that would get them have a legal roster and can get 100 abs and 30 innings a week.

2) only fair thing to do (for the league and all the teams who have and will play the Tigers) after the first thing is done, give the tigers a loss for every game of the season to not allow the teams who got wins because he didn't qualify in those areas an advantage over teams that now would be facing a full rostered team.. (the rules state 5 games, this is now 9, clear violation)

There are solutions to rules violations and I am sure it can be handled multipul different ways, now if someone wants actually handle it, again I will volunteer only if the MAJORITY wants to play by the rules of the league, follow the rules of the league and have a completely fair to everyone owner league. If your concerned about upsetting owners that are habitual rules violators, I know quite a few true Veteran fantasy players, who play by the rules, active, and love to just focus on baseball. I can get plenty as well as weed through the applications and find the quality ones as well as inform them of the rules everyone WILL play by.

Give me 7 days of access to the rules, I will just clean them up and delete all the BS posts and you will be amazed how much smoother things run. I will ask questions on anything unclear and make it more clear on the ones that make sense. Simplify/streamline it, whatever you want to call it and I absolutely would love if everyone would then reread through them after I am done and find my mistakes because I will make some. I just want everyone to play by the same set of rules and whats best for the longevity of the league.

The Pirates did an absolute great job and is still doing a great job with the spreadsheet, I know because I will be his most work, I promise. I promise you will be impressed after I am done and you will enjoy the rest of the season without this hovering as an issue any longer.

i mean last year, i had a problem where i had a DH as my CI. i lost stats for every day that the DH was on CI status and i didn't realize till someone brought it up to me that.

there was no repercussion for him cheating last year and there is none here.

what do we have to do?? quit to get attention that Jason is an outright cheater. commish do something harsh to him or you will lose people.

He's been cheating in some form since the beginning. He would cut of backloaded years of contracts and other such manipulation since day 1.

I disagree with what you think the penalties should be, i think they should be much harsher but im not going to give me opinion on it because I already have and what i say doesn't matter I a new member.

sure, I agree, they should be harsher, been saying that from the beginning but nobody wanted to hear it....I am completely with it.

But for the good of the 2013 season...all the Astros and Tigers games should be forfeited for the complete fairness of the active owners.

New owners should be found, they can still make transactions, trades, bids, etc but their stats/teams will not be counted til 2014. This would allow them to learn way ahead of past new teams how the league works...similar to a probation period...so we know what kind of active owners they will be WAY before the off season moves and opening day...it will build stronger owners and increase league longevity.

Thats what I said very similar to before the season began, if anyone still wants to hear it...up to the owners. I have seen all this before and know it will continue to go on for years until the foundation is stronger.

I just need 7 days access to fix 95 to 98 percent of it...I am off Wed, Thur this week and Tues, Sat and Sun the following week.

Admittedly, I became aware of the problem over the weekend and now I can make a ruling on this. Jason was given an ultimatum after the salary issue, and I realize if I didn't know him, he would have been long gone by now. Ultimately, it is in the league's best interest that I act as if I didn't, and he must be expelled, and officially is.

In terms of what happens with his roster now, I'm leaving that up to the league to figure out what is right. I am beginning to relinquish primary responsibility to make these decisions as many of you will find out soon, while transitioning more responsibilities to those who are willing to take on an administrative role. If someone wants to step up and synthesize the opinions of all and make a decision for the league, we can figure that out.
